The Body - Natural Testosterone Boosters - What works!

Full disclosure guys, during my competition years I have taken all the designer testosterone and testosterone derivatives to gain muscle mass, If I didn’t take supplements whether it be testosterone or natural supplements, my testosterone would be VERY low, which is not healthy.  So, I have quite a bit of time in the saddle to give you some REAL advice., but every “body” is different and you should always talk to your doctor before changing your diet or adding supplements, especially the ones that are mentioned below:

Lets’s Start with how do natural testosterone boosters work?

For the most part, testosterone boosters work by Stimulating the Pituitary Gland to produce more testosterone, but like everything in the body, that is only the first step.  Some boosters work by stimulating the pituitary gland to release luteinizing hormone (LH), which then signals the testes to produce more testosterone. Other boosters provide the body with precursors needed to produce testosterone, such as DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone) or certain amino acids.

I will detail the supplements that have WORKED for me, and by working I don’t mean I feel better or stronger in the gym, I have my testosterone checked every six months for two reasons.  I want to be very careful to watch my PSA and typically as my testosterone increases so does my PSA and I am not really interested in getting prostate cancer and if I do, I want to know immediately!

  • DHEA -DHEA, or Dehydroepiandrosterone, is a naturally occurring steroid hormone produced in the adrenal glands, gonads, and the brain. It is a precursor hormone, meaning it is a substance that the body can convert into other hormones, primarily testosterone and estrogen.  As of this writing I do not have a favorite brand, I have always been pleased with the brand Life Extension – 100 MG recommended
  • Vitamin D – Is an important fat-soluble vitamin present in certain foods and dietary supplements, and is also produced within the body after exposure from ultraviolet rays from the sun.  In the south it is much easier to get this from the sun and not have to supplement but folks in the north may consider supplimentation.
  • Boran – Is a trace mineral that is found in certain foods and the environment. It has several roles in the body and is believed to impact various physiological processes that can affect performance. Some studies suggest that boron can influence the body’s production of sex hormones, including testosterone and estrogen.  As important is it also decreases inflammation which helps with recovery and joint pain.
  • Zink – Zinc is an essential mineral that plays a crucial role in numerous biological functions, including immune function, DNA synthesis, wound healing, and cell division. It is also important for the proper functioning of the endocrine system and the maintenance of hormonal balance. Zinc is essential for the production of luteinizing hormone (LH), a pituitary hormone that stimulates the testes to produce testosterone. It also acts as  a natural aromatase inhibitor. Aromatase is an enzyme that converts testosterone into estrogen. By inhibiting this enzyme, zinc may help in maintaining higher levels of testosterone and lower levels of estrogen.
  • Tribulus Terrestris – This is an annual plant of the family Zygophyllaceae that has been used for generations to energize, vitalize, and improve sexual function and physical performance in men. Probably the most controversial on my list because there is little proof that it works. Limited studies show it might be helpful in lessening symptoms of agina and in enhancing athletic performance. There have also been some studies that show some benefit to people with certain sexual problems and to those suffering from infertility.

If I was making a suggestion to you for supplimentation, It would be DHEA, Vitamin D, Boran, Zinc and While Tribulus I believe works for me, there are enough studies that suggests that it doesn’t for most, so that one is on you.

I haven’t really touched on some of the other more aggressive over-the-counter SARMS which are synthetic (lab-made) chemicals that mimic the effects of androgens which are natural male sex hormones. They’re thought to increase muscle strength and lower the amount of time muscles need to rest after exertion.  It is my opinion that many of them work and work well. So stay tuned to these segments and I will begin to break those down and discuss what has worked and what is garbage!
